The Hangover

As one of the most quotable movies of all time, chances are you won't be the only one at the party making wolf pack references. Yes, this was a 2009 summer movie that carried over to 2010 when HBO threw it up on repeat. And yes, The Hangover 2 has come and gone and cleansed our referencing palate. But in the summer of '09, the relatively unknown stars aligned to bring us the best, most original Vegas buddy movie since Swingers.

The hangover brings to light two things: emerging musical hilarity and Zach Galifianakis. The short Asian guy is a one trick pony to date, though this is also his breakout role.

In addition to songs that were popular at the time, the movie featured musical moments of solid gold. In years past, whenever Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight came on, your mind maybe went to Risky Business, with Tom Cruise making love to what's her face on a real train. Hopefully, it went to Don Johnson and what's his face in Miami Vice for the Ferrari driving sequence. Thanks to Mike Tyson and the gang, we only have to think about The Hangover.

I don't know if Tyson still "has it", but his movie right crosses are certainly up to snuff thanks to the captain of the Jewish debate team, Todd Phillips.

It's been since the early summer of 2009 that I've called a nap a nap. Ever since The Hangover, I've enjoyed many a Tiger Snooze thanks to Stu. What better thing to have happen while the main characters are waiting for roofies to kick in on an wild jungle cat?

If our best friend is ever the topic of conversation, or better yet you're about to go see your best friend, make sure you bring up the best friend hug. Bonus if his name is actually Doug.

But The Hangover is a Zach Galifianakis showcase. Fans of his have been waiting for this since he went upstairs on Michael Cera's leg. I hate to give all his credit to the face pubes, but was anyone really paying attention to Brian Wilson before they started to fear the beard? So first off, if you're not going to name you first born son Carlos, you're out of your mind.

"Not at the table, Carlos" is one of the no need for setup, no need for explanation references. Someone does something inappropriate at mealtime, throw that dandy at them...jackin his little weenis. Chuckle.

When you're not at your tailor or busy taking bartending classes, make sure you've a sig on your beeper and get a history lesson by asking the obvious. Don't be afraid, there are no stupid questions.

Best way to hide embarassment after an obvious answer to an obvious question: "I didn't think so." Similar to a pretentious illiterate. Ok, it's not PC and it's risky to use, but if you're in a must-call-someone-a-retard situation, make sure you pronounce it this way: reTARD.

If you don't have enough by now to keep The Hangover conversation alive, mention getting your belly button pierced or doing coke with Carrot Top to relive the magic of the end.
